Course Outline

This one-day legal education course is designed specifically for public purchasing professionals who need to update their knowledge on important changes to Canadian purchasing law. The course covers three critical areas of public purchasing:

The course covers three critical areas of public purchasing:

Competitive Bidding Law - examining the latest decisions of Canadian Courts on disclosure, fairness, non-compliance by Bidders and Owner waiver, and Owner exclusion of liability;

Trade Agreement Law – covering the Agreement on Internal Trade (AIT), the B.C.-Alberta Trade Investment and Labour Mobility Agreement (TILMA), and the Atlantic Procurement Agreement (APA); and

Contract Law – examining the dangers of verbal agreements and the risks of using Consultants during the tendering process.


All topics have been chosen based upon recent Canadian case law decisions from the Supreme Court of Canada, the Courts of Appeal, and other Canadian Courts.

Participants will receive a detailed set of course materials covering the laws and leading cases in each of the topic areas.
